ABBOTTABAD: Doctors have announced a one-day strike at the Ayub Teaching Hospital on Monday (today) in protest against the notices issued to medical officers by the hospital administration for not following the biometric attendance system.
All out-door departments, wards, laboratories, radiology department and operation theatres will remain closed on Monday except the emergency department, the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) announced after a meeting. In a statement issued here on Sunday, PDA President Dr Aminullah Afridi said the OPDs and other services would not be provided on Monday except emergency cover. “In case the notification of biometric system and explanation letters are not withdrawn on Monday, the strike may be extended for an indefinite period,” the statement said. It said the issue was discussed with the BoG chairman, but doctors’ demands were not accepted.
