LAHORE: Senator Aitzaz Ahsan on Monday warned the government against the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activists during the latter’s November 2 ‘Islamabad siege’.
He said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would join the siege if such a step was taken. “We consider PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s demand for accountability as fair and it should begin with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” the senior leader said.
“There is a discrepancy in the statements of PM Nawaz’s children regarding their billions of worth of properties and the national institutions did not take any investigation in the Panama leaks as all are subordinated to the prime minister,” Ahsan lamented.
He said that some people were giving inappropriate advices to the prime minister as peaceful protests are the democratic right of everyone. “Had these accusations been hurled against anyone except the PM, the government would have acted by now,” the senator upheld.
Ahsan said that his party will closely monitor the protest and in case of any step against the PTI workers, the PPP might change its current policy and could join the protest.
