LAHORE: A bomb exploded at Mall Road in front of the Punjab Assembly on Monday.
According to sources, the blast has been confirmed to be a suicide attack. As many as 14 people have died and 60 are reported to be injured. The injured are being taken to the hospital.
Among the dead were DIG Traffic Captain (r) Mubeeen Ahmad and SSP Zahid Gondal, they were present in front of Punjab Assembly to negotiate with the protestors.
It is pertinent to mention that a chemist association was holding a protest outside the assembly when the blast occurred. Following the blast, people ran for cover in panic. Several cars caught fire after the explosion.
