KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair on Sunday said that any nation is thoroughly dependent on its human resource and specially persons having technical expertise in various fields.
He said this while speaking at an event to distribute tool kits among young students who had just completed training in various disciplines under the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme at Governor’s House.
This programme is being conducted by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NVTTC) throughout Pakistan. NVTTC Executive Director Zulfiqar Cheema, NVTTC Director General Abdul Raheem Shaikh and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Shamim Ahmed Firpo were also present.
Zubair said NVTCC has been assigned an enormous responsibility of preparing skilled youth in various fields which it is doing efficiently. It has completed 2 phases of the programme and as many as 50,000 unskilled youth are being trained is various fields during the 3rd phase, he observed.
He said that this training has helped hundreds of youth in getting employment in their trained fields which has in turn helped in decreasing numbers of the unemployed youth. This trained work force would not only be financially sound but would also contribute towards overall economic development of the country, he opined.
The governor said, “Youth are our future as they are 60% of the total population. The use of their abilities and skills in a right direction is of utmost importance with regards to making Pakistan economically stable and prosperous.”
He congratulated NVTTC for choosing standard institutions for providing training to youth under PM’s programme.
He also commended the fact that almost 50,000 unskilled youth have been trained in various fields.
He asked industrialists and trade bodies to employee trained youth either on an apprenticeship or permanently so as to utilize their skills in a befitting manner. They should also establish vocational training centers for helping in the production of trained work force he added and said that public-private partnership was needed to accelerate this sector.
He also lauded free of cost training to youth and provision of monthly stipend and tool kits to successful students. Youth should avail this opportunity of getting vocational and technical training to make their future bright and enhance chances of getting suitable job, he advised.
He said, “For making our country strong and prosperous each and every Pakistani must contribute according to their capacity and resources. Our collective efforts in this regard could yield tremendous results.”
Cheema said that training according to job market demands was of immense importance and NVTTC has designed their training modules accordingly. Skill competition among trainees has been a huge success as these are expending and enhancing their knowledge to a great extend, he added.
Cheema further informed that from next year the number of trainee youth would be doubled.
Firpo said the Karachi chamber would extend all assistance in helping trained youth for getting employment. As many as 60 students received tool kits on the occasion.
