ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has emphasised on seamless coordination between law enforcement agencies (LEAs) as well as among the federal and provincial governments, to achieve optimum results within a short period of time.
While chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday to review the internal security situation and the implementation of the National Action plan (NAP), PM Nawaz said, “We are in a state of war with an ideology that wants to change our way of life.”
He stressed that the government was committed to take all the necessary steps to ensure that blood spilled in Quetta carnage does not go waste. The meeting discussed at length the internal security situation of the country and different aspects of the NAP.
The meeting also observed that after achieving successful results from operation Zarb-e-Azb in FATA, the militants were now changing their targets other than the state institutions out of desperation. The prime minister expressed his resolve, “We will make Pakistan secure from every kind of terrorism and extremism.”
He added that Pakistan had embarked upon the right track and the government would enable every citizen to reap the benefits of a secure, stable and prosperous country. He said the militants thought that they can sow the seeds of disharmony and disunity in the nation. “The nation is united and supports the government to stay on the course of completely eliminating the militants from the Pakistani society.”
Minster for Interior Affairs Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan and National Security Advisor Nasser Khan Janjua briefed the meeting on how the militant organisations were attacking the soft targets. The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and other senior government officials.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour called on PM Nawaz at the PM House on Tuesday, where issues related to national significance and political situation were discussed. The prime minister said that Pakistan is satisfactorily advancing towards a strong, economically vibrant and politically stable future.
PM Nawaz also said that the militants were attacking the pillars of democracy. “Their attack on Quetta is an indication that they hate and target every institution which is integral part of our polity,” he added. He said that the militants wanted to attack the state and society through their perverted ideology.
He said, “They (militants) must know that as state and as government, the process of elimination of terrorism through Zarb-e-Azb and NAP is irreversible.” He added that in this tragic moment, the entire nation was united with an unflinching resolve against terrorism and extremism.
