ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan’s ship was sailing without a captain.
“Indian moves have posed serious threats to the countries of this region. India has launched military offences against Pakistan several times. Pakistan’s boat is in the sea like a captain-less ship,” he said while talking to media men outside parliament house on Friday.
He maintained that the US attitude towards Pakistan was insulting. “Pakistan should revisit its foreign policy and a consensus foreign policy should be evolved,” he added. Regarding budget he said that it was not people friendly, therefore, all political parties had rejected it.
“We ask the government to ensure security and sovereignty of the country. We have never asked the government to fight war with the US but we don’t want to put national interest at stake at the cost of US friendship. We are an independent country and no friendship with US is acceptable if it means slavery,” he said.
Responding to a question on drone attack, the JI chief said drone attack was actually an attack on country’s integrity and sovereignty. This was not the first drone strike on Pakistan. US had already targeted the country in several drone strikes.
He held that if US forged strategic partnership with India then it would pose a serious threat to all the countries of region including Pakistan. If the US wanted stability in the region then it would give the same status to Pakistan what it would give to India.
