ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Wednesday presided over a hearing pertaining to a petition regarding the deputation of officials in Sindh province.
The chief justice presided over a three-member bench which conducted the hearing pertaining to a petition about deputation of officials in the Sindh government. The court expressed its anger at the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah for not following orders of the the judiciary.
“If promotions are made on the basis of likes and dislikes, then how can there be good governance?” he asked. “Sindh government has not implemented the orders of the judiciary.” “How can a government servant of Grade I reach Grade 16?” asked Justice Amir Hani Muslim.
The chief justice remarked that in order to compensate one person, the rights of fifteen others were dishonoured. He remarked that the government should issue a statement that the chief minister was not bound to obey the orders of the court. “A statement should be issued that there is not democracy in Sindh but kingship,” he said.
